“From Chaos to a Life Less Ordinary”I’ve lived on derelict ships, in circus tents, psychiatric wards, refugee camps, and royal palaces… Breaking bones, breaking down, and reinventing myself more times than was sensible. CRACKMASK is the story of how chaos became a life. |
About the Book — CRACKMASK
By Eddie Haworth:
CRACKMASK is a true story I spent most of my life avoiding, then most of my 60s trying to write. It follows the long, messy journey behind the mask I built to survive my early years, a mask that stayed with me far longer than it should have, shaping everything from the choices I made to the person I pretended to be.
The book moves through the darker corners of my past, the strange twists that pushed me halfway across the world, and the unexpected life I built in Thailand running a charity I never planned to start. It’s about the cracks that formed in that mask, slow at first, then impossible to ignore, and what finally came through when I stopped trying to hold it all together.
There’s no tidy moral or neat “lesson learned.” Just the truth as I lived it, including the chaos, humour, damage, and eventual rebuilding of the strange, stubborn hope that kept showing up, despite all the knock-backs.
Writing CRACKMASK has been a long road, and the story is now heading toward publication in June 2026. Between now and then, I’ll be sharing updates, scraps from the writing desk, and the occasional behind‑the‑scenes moment as the book finds its final shape.
If you’re curious about the journey, or if you’ve ever carried a mask of your own, you’re welcome to follow along.
The cracks are where the truth got in. This book is what came out.
